Newbury
Newbury was established as a town, or burgh, by a Norman knight, Ernulf de Hesdin after the Norman conquest. In the succeeding centuries the town prospered as a centre of commerce, trade being organised by merchant's guilds, with cloth and wool being important commodities. These days massive growth and migration into Newbury on the back of the technological revolution has seen the town evolve from a rural market town into a more sophisticated centre for business and culture.

Directions from M4 Junction 13 / A34 - North of Newbury
- At Junction 13, take the exit to Southampton/Newbury/A34
- Exit onto the A339 toward Newbury /Thatcham/A4
- As you approach Newbury on the dual carriageway (A339), keep right at the first set of traffic lights and follow signs A4/Hungerford/Town Centre turning right into London road (stay in lane marked town centre)
- After 1/4 mile, go straight over the mini roundabout, passing the Cross Keys pub on your right hand side.
- At the next mini-roundabout turn left immediately after the clock tower onto Northbrook Street.
- Shakin' The Tree is 200 yards down on the left hand side.
Directions from A34 - South of Newbury
- Leave A34 at exit signposted Donnington/Speen
- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A4/Bath Rd heading to Newbury/ Winchester/ A34/ Basingstoke/ Andover/ A303/ Southampton/ M3/ Donnington/Speen. Continue to follow A4
- Go through 1 roundabout
- At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit on to Oxford Road (signposted town centre), pass Waitrose on the right hand side.
- At the mini-roundabout take the first left
- At the next roundabout (clock tower) take the second exit.
- Shakin' The Tree is 200 yards down on the left hand side.
Parking
Nearest Parking is located on West street, the first turning on the right after Shakin' The Tree. Continue down West street, at the end of the road turn right, parking is signed posted on the left hand side.
